GTA 6 radio stations: the first six, their hosts, and podcasts you can hear on foot
Rockstar named six Grand Theft Auto VI radio stations on 8 October — Flash FM, Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6 and Dirty South Classics — with audio previews, the series' first on-demand podcasts, and listening that carries on after you leave the car. What is confirmed, who the hosts actually are, and what is still unannounced.

Three weeks ago Rockstar had announced an album and not one radio station. On 8 October 2026 it named six, put audio previews of all of them on the official site, and described the first structural change to Grand Theft Auto radio in the series' history.
The stations are Flash FM, Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6 and Dirty South Classics. Rockstar says this is a sample rather than the full dial, and that classic rock and talk radio are also in the game without having been previewed.
The station names are the headline and the smaller announcement underneath them is the more interesting one: Grand Theft Auto VI has on-demand podcasts, and radio no longer stops when you get out of the car.
The six stations
These are Rockstar's own descriptions and its own host names. Every DJ on this list is a character with a character's name; the real people behind them are a separate question, handled below.
| Station | Genre | Hosts, as Rockstar names them |
|---|---|---|
| Flash FM | Pop | Robyn and Alex |
| Cocoteo FM | Modern Latin — bachata, merengue, dembow, reggaeton | El Martillo and La Gata |
| Back Country Radio | Outlaw country | MW and Delta Dawne, with Mud Dog Mike as roving reporter and swamp meteorologist |
| AfroBank FM | African music, from 20th-century classics to amapiano and 3-step | Burna and Palmsy |
| The Chamber 106.6 | Metal | DJ Kerry and DJ Tom |
| Dirty South Classics | Regional rap and hip-hop | Trick and Trina |
Flash FM is the first confirmed returning station from 1986. It was the pop station in the 2002 Vice City, and its reappearance is the first time a callback to that game has been an announcement rather than a logo on a shirt or an advert on a bus stop. Everything else in that category — V-Rock, Vice City FM — remains exactly where it was, which is to say in the art and not in the announcements.
Back Country Radio is the one station Rockstar placed geographically. Its described broadcast area is the Grassrivers wetlands and Port Gellhorn — the northern, inland half of Leonida rather than the city — and "swamp meteorologist" is a job title that only makes sense in that half of the map.
Who is actually behind the microphones
Rockstar's own text names only the personas. The real identities come from press reporting, principally Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, picked up the same day by Kotaku, VGC and GameSpot. That is a meaningful distinction and worth keeping: a studio that writes "DJ Kerry" and stops has chosen not to make the casting part of the announcement.
| Persona | Reported to be |
|---|---|
| El Martillo, La Gata | Bad Bunny and RaiNao |
| DJ Kerry, DJ Tom | Kerry King and Tom Araya, of Slayer |
| MW, Delta Dawne | Morgan Wallen and Lana Del Rey |
| Mud Dog Mike | Jeremy Dufrene |
| Burna, Palmsy | Burna Boy and Palms Trax |
| Robyn, Alex | Robyn and Alex Consani |
| Trick, Trina | Trick Daddy and Trina |
Two of those are worth a sentence each. Trick Daddy and Trina are Miami rappers, and putting them on a station of southern classics is a casting decision about the real city rather than a celebrity booking. Jeremy Dufrene is an alligator tour guide, which is why a swamp meteorologist is funny and why the Back Country billing reads as a joke that was written before anyone was cast.
Morgan Wallen is the only name that appears twice: he has a track on the album as well as a chair in the studio.
The part that is a feature, not a tracklist
The announcement's two mechanical claims are the ones that change how the game plays.
- On-demand podcasts. Rockstar says that for the first time in the series the game has a set of podcasts, and that they are on demand — chosen and played rather than cycled through on a station. It has described nothing else about them: no titles, no presenters, no length, no indication of whether they advance anything.
- Listening on foot. Radio and podcasts play through Jason's and Lucia's phones, with headphones or earbuds, and carry on after they leave a vehicle.
The second is the one with reach. Grand Theft Auto radio has been a property of cars since 1997, and every design consequence of that follows from it: the soundtrack is a driving soundtrack, stations are chosen at the moment you steal something, and the music stops when the mission starts. Decoupling it from the car means the licensed catalogue plays during the parts of the game that have historically been silent.
It also answers, partly, a phrase this site flagged three weeks ago as empty. Rockstar's 17 September album announcement promised more on "the next evolution of in-game radio" and attached no content to it. That phrase now has content: it means podcasts and it means on-foot playback. Whether it means anything further is still unestablished.
The music, and how much of it is actually named
Rockstar put audio previews of all six stations on the Music page of the official site. Each preview is a short segment of station programming with the hosts introducing records, and between them they are the first licensed music Rockstar has tied to a named Grand Theft Auto VI station. Everything before this was either original music written for the album or a track spotted in leaked footage.
The songs that music press has transcribed from the previews:
| Station | Named in the preview |
|---|---|
| Flash FM | Charli xcx, Good Ones · MGMT, Electric Feel · Zara Larsson & PinkPantheress, Midnight Sun (Girls Trip) |
| Cocoteo FM | Bad Bunny, EoO · Axel Rulay ft. Farruko & El Alfa, Si Es Trucho Es Trucho (Remix) · Romeo Santos & El Chaval de la Bachata, Canalla |
| Back Country Radio | David Allan Coe, Need a Little Time Off for Bad Behavior · Loretta Lynn, Don't Come Home A-Drinkin' · Hank Williams Jr. & Waylon Jennings, The Conversation |
| AfroBank FM | Asake, Joha · Pat Thomas ft. Ebo Taylor, Gye Wani |
| The Chamber 106.6 | Black Sabbath, I · Slayer, Raining Blood |
| Dirty South Classics | David Banner ft. Lil' Flip, Like a Pimp · JT Money ft. Solé, Who Dat |
Treat that table as a transcript of six audio clips, not as a track listing. Outlets differ on the last entry for several of the stations, Rockstar has published no written list, and a song playing in a thirty-second preview is confirmation that the song is on the station and nothing more about how much else is.
The one structural thing it does establish: these are licensed records, mostly old ones. A 1966 Loretta Lynn single, a 1986 Slayer track, a 1992 Black Sabbath track, a 2003 David Banner single. Grand Theft Auto VI's radio is a curated catalogue in the way every previous game's was, and the 34 original songs on the album are a separate product that still has not been connected to it.
What this does not tell you
Rockstar's fiction has a record label in it and none of this touches it. Only Raw Records is not a radio station. Dre'Quan Priest, the duo signed to him and the money behind the studio are a story strand, and no announced station, host or track has been attached to any of it.
Nor does the announcement validate the leaked station lists. Unofficial footage earlier this year showed a radio menu with names on it, and one of those names — Back Country Radio — has now turned up in an official announcement. That is a point in favour of the leak's accuracy and not a reason to start repeating the rest of it; the leak material and why we do not reproduce it are covered in the spoiler guide.
What is not confirmed
- How many stations there are. Rockstar called this a sample. It has not given a total, and "a sample" is compatible with eight stations or with twenty.
- Anything about the podcasts beyond their existence. No names, no hosts, no subjects, no duration, no indication of whether any of them is tied to the story.
- Whether the 34 album tracks play on the radio. Three weeks on, this is still unanswered, and the preview tracks released so far are licensed catalogue rather than album material.
- The classic rock and talk radio stations. Confirmed to exist, not named or previewed.
- V-Rock. Still a logo on a t-shirt. Flash FM returning makes a V-Rock return more plausible and does not make it an announcement.
- Full tracklists for any of the six. Rockstar has said the complete list of stations and songs will not be published before launch.
- The dynamic score. Named on 17 September, described on no date since.
- Whether on-foot listening is always available or gated by owning a phone accessory, a mission state, or anything else.
Six weeks out from launch on 19 November 2026, the dial has gone from a marketing phrase to six names, fifteen songs and two described features. That is a real move, and it is still a sixth of the picture at most.

GTA 6 car theft and the end of being all-powerful: Rob Nelson's IGN interview
The one-button hotwire is gone. A phone app scans a parked car for locks, alarms and trackers, a slim jim opens the old ones, a key cloner starts the new ones, and no crime reaches the police unless somebody sees it or an alarm goes off. What Rockstar's Rob Nelson said, and what it corrects.

GTA 6 cloud streaming: Xbox was reported to have the exclusive, then denied it
The Verge reported that Xbox Cloud Gaming would be the only service allowed to stream Grand Theft Auto VI at launch. Here is what each statement actually claims, and what neither of them settles.

Australia classified GTA 6 first: R18+ on 27 August, with sex scenes written into the advice
The Australian Classification Board put Grand Theft Auto VI on the national register five weeks before the ESRB label appeared — R18+, consumer advice "High impact violence, sex scenes and drug use". It is the only rating the game carries that is law rather than labelling, and it corrects two of our own articles.
