Is GTA 6 coming to PC? What's confirmed, and what history suggests
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with no PC date announced. Here's what Rockstar has actually said, and what past releases imply about the wait.

The short answer: Grand Theft Auto VI has no announced PC release date. It launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
That is the entirety of what is confirmed. Everything else is inference — but the inference is worth understanding, because Rockstar has done this same thing twice before.
What Rockstar has actually said
Nothing. There has been no PC announcement, no "coming later" placeholder, and no store listing. Rockstar has also not ruled it out, which given their history is the expected position rather than a bad sign.
Update, 19 September: Take-Two has now spoken, which is not the same thing. At the company's annual shareholder meeting on 17 September 2026, Strauss Zelnick was asked about the cadence of PC launches and described a general policy of releasing on platforms with a meaningful audience, adding that PC is "becoming more and more important" to the company. He named no game and no date, and Rockstar has still announced nothing. The exact wording, and the one figure in the record that genuinely argues for a PC version, are in what was actually said at the shareholder meeting.
What the pattern suggests
Rockstar has launched console-first and followed with PC on their last two major single-player releases:
| Game | Console launch | PC launch | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | September 2013 | April 2015 | ~19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | October 2018 | November 2019 | ~12 months |
Two data points is not a rule. But the direction is consistent, and the gap has narrowed. If VI follows the same shape, a PC release somewhere in late 2027 to mid 2028 is the reasonable expectation.
Do not treat that as a date. It is a pattern-based guess, and Rockstar has never committed to it.
Why the delay happens at all
The usual explanations are console exclusivity arrangements, the engineering cost of supporting an unbounded range of PC hardware, and a second sales window — a PC release a year later is effectively a second launch with its own coverage.
What to do if you only play on PC
Nothing you do now changes when it arrives. There is no PC pre-order to place and no waitlist to join. If you are deciding whether to buy a console for it, the honest framing is that you are buying roughly a year of earlier access, plus whatever else you would use the console for.
One practical note: a PC version arriving later has historically meant higher fidelity and mod support, so waiting is not purely a loss. That second half now comes with conditions attached — Rockstar published a company-wide modding policy on 10 September 2026, and what it bans rules out fan-made story expansions, cross-game map merges and unofficial ports on whatever PC release eventually arrives.
We will update this page the moment anything official appears. If you are wondering what hardware to buy in the meantime, the short answer is very little — see what Rockstar's past PC ports actually required. For everything that is confirmed, see the release date guide.
The GTA 6 PC guide is the short version of this page, kept current: it changes the day Rockstar says anything about PC.
