Who is Lucia Caminos? GTA 6's first playable female protagonist
Lucia Caminos is the co-lead of Grand Theft Auto VI and the first playable woman in a mainline GTA. Here's what the trailers confirm, what her story looks like, and why her voice actor is still a rumour.

Lucia Caminos is one of the two playable characters in Grand Theft Auto VI, and the first playable female protagonist in a mainline game in the series' near-30-year history. She shares the story with Jason Duval, and Rockstar describes the game plainly as the story of Lucia and Jason — not a lead and a supporting character.
Since the Extended Look on 27 August, she has been the most-searched name attached to the game. Here is what is actually confirmed, and what is still guesswork.
What the trailers establish
The first trailer, in December 2023, opened on Lucia in a prison uniform, talking about getting out and staying out. Everything since has built on that: she begins the story inside Leonida Penitentiary, and the terms of her release appear to be tied to the criminal work that follows.
The second trailer and the Extended Look confirmed the shape of the partnership. Lucia and Jason are written as a pair — a Bonnie-and-Clyde couple running jobs across Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, rather than two separate lives that occasionally intersect. On the evidence so far, Lucia is the half of the pair with a plan.
Why this is a first for the series
No mainline Grand Theft Auto has shipped with a playable female protagonist before. GTA Online has let players build their own characters since 2013, but that is a creation tool, not a written lead. Lucia is the first woman Rockstar has put at the centre of a single-player GTA story.
Her existence was public before Rockstar was ready for it. A large leak in September 2022 showed early footage of both protagonists more than a year ahead of the reveal, and Rockstar confirmed the material was genuine while making clear how unhappy they were about the circumstances.
The choice also fits the reference the game keeps reaching for. Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow only work as a story because both halves are drivers of it — transplanted here into a parody of modern Florida.
Manni L. Perez: the voice rumour
Rockstar has not announced any of the voice cast for GTA VI. No credits, no casting confirmation, nothing official.
What exists is a persistent and reasonably well-supported piece of fan research pointing at the actor Manni L. Perez as Lucia's voice and likeness. The case rests on resemblance, on details spotted around the game's marketing, and on changes made to her public professional listings after the speculation started — a pattern familiar to anyone who has watched Rockstar's non-disclosure agreements work.
That is circumstantial, and it should be read that way. It is a strong rumour, not a fact, and this page will say so until Rockstar publishes a cast list.
Confirmed, or not
| Claim | Status |
|---|---|
| Playable co-protagonist alongside Jason Duval | Confirmed by Rockstar |
| First playable female lead in a mainline GTA | Confirmed |
| Story opens with her in Leonida Penitentiary | Shown in the trailers |
| Written as a Bonnie-and-Clyde pairing with Jason | Rockstar's own framing |
| Voiced by Manni L. Perez | Unconfirmed — fan research only |
| How the story ends for her and Jason | Unknown |
What her story looks like so far
- She starts inside. The opening puts Lucia in Leonida Penitentiary, with release conditions that read as leverage rather than a clean slate.
- She and Jason work together. They share the criminal work and a relationship, and the game switches between them — freely outside missions, and on rules set per mission inside them. See who is Jason Duval for how that partnership is built.
- The jobs escalate. Convenience-store robberies and chases early on, with Vice City's established players pulling them into bigger work as they go.
What is still unknown
The plot beyond broad strokes, where Lucia and Jason end up, and whether she features in any online component at all. None of that has been confirmed, and there is no reliable leak filling the gap either.
We will update this page as Rockstar confirms things, and again after launch on 19 November 2026. In the meantime, see the full confirmed cast Lucia's character page, and Vice City, where most of her story is set.
